Welcome!

Welcome to Taco The Town!

With our first post, we'd like to take a minute and tell you what we are all about. Taco The Town! began in Kokomo, Indiana on November 17, 2017 as an idea: we wanted to help other taco aficionados like ourselves locate and consume the finest tacos in their area. If you hunt for amazing tacos like we do, by now you have realized that the best tacos are not always found in the places you might expect them. Some of the best tacos in your vicinity are likely hidden right under your nose, in small restaurants and taquerias, food trucks, bars, etc. We want to find the tacos, eat the tacos, rate the tacos, and tell you about the tacos.

Our rating system is simple: we put tacos into 3 categories:

  1. Mexican style- meat, onions, and cilantro, basically. Normally only in corn tortillas.
  2. Tex-Mex/American style- these tacos will normally contain meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese of some type, in either a flour or corn tortilla, hard or soft shell.
  3. Specialty tacos- tacos that think outside the box, or tortilla, if you will. These can be anything from fish tacos to gyro tacos, with any kind of meat, veggie, or fruit inside a tortilla or shell.
After we categorize the tacos, we rate them with a 5-star system, individually, according to which type of meat is in each taco. We always try them first without the sauce provided, to taste the meat and fixins in their natural state. Then we dress them up with sauce or whatever is recommended. Our criteria for a good rating starts with the quality and taste of the meat, but we consider every component before giving a taco a rating. Service, atmosphere, specials, and pricing DO NOT figure into our ratings. Taco The Town! ONLY RATES THE TACOS.

Once we have rated all the individual tacos, we will give the restaurant an overall taco rating. When we have tried all of the tacos in a city, we will then declare the very best taco place in that city to be "The Taco The Town!"

We hope you will benefit from our painstaking research as much as we do. Enjoy!
